Understanding the Electoral College
The map above shows the election results from the 2016 presidential election. Red indicates the vast areas throughout the country in which voters elected President Trump. The blue areas represent Democrat votes for Hillary Clinton. If popular votes from large cities alone elected presidents, then the less populated regions in the country would not be represented. The Founders cautioned about “tyranny of the majority” and created the Electoral College.
